Trump Returns to South Carolina as Senate Race Tightens

President Donald Trump held a rally in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on October 29, 2026, in support of Republican Sen. Darline Graham, according to Reuters. It was his second visit to the state in eight days.
Graham is running in South Carolina's U.S. Senate race against Democrat Annie Andrews. Graham is the sister of Sen. Lindsey Graham, the state's other Republican senator, The Guardian reported.
An October 2026 poll showed the two candidates tied, according to The Guardian. NPR reported that the race was tightening as of October 29.
Trump campaigned in Clemson, South Carolina, on October 21 in support of Graham's Senate bid. Republican groups had spent $9.7 million in the race since October 1, according to a Reuters analysis.
NPR reported that the amount of attention and money going to the race has raised questions about how Republican-leaning the state is.
Earlier, in July 2026, the Trump administration awarded South Carolina a $23.5 million grant to replace 18 aging bridges, according to a White House release.
