Ashley Paul Griffith Faces 202 More Charges in NSW After Extradition

Ashley Paul Griffith, 48, has been charged with 202 additional offences in New South Wales, days after he was moved there from Queensland, where he is already serving a life sentence. The Guardian reported the new charges on 30 October 2026. Detectives from the Child Abuse Squad of the NSW Police Force charged a former childcare worker with the offences.
Griffith was jailed for life in Queensland in November 2024 after pleading guilty to more than 300 child sexual offences against nearly 70 victims. ABC News reported that he admitted offences against 69 girls, for which he is serving his sentence. A Brisbane magistrate approved his transfer to New South Wales earlier in October. He arrived in the state on Wednesday, and he was charged while held at Silverwater Correctional Complex in Sydney.
The new charges relate to the period between 2014 and 2017, when Griffith was working at a childcare centre in Sydney's inner west. They include 68 counts of rape of a child aged under 10, and 42 counts of aggravated rape of a child aged under 10 who was under his authority. There are also 69 counts of aggravated indecent assault and 23 charges of producing child abuse material.
The charges concern 23 alleged victims, all aged between one and five. Charges are allegations that have not been tested in court, and Griffith's case will proceed through the New South Wales legal system.
