Sam Wood Seeks Bail Again Over Domestic Violence Charges

Former Bachelor star Sam Wood, 46, is making a second bid for bail in the Supreme Court while he remains in custody on two domestic violence charges, the Guardian reported on 30 October 2026. His first application was denied by a Queensland magistrate.
Wood, who is from Melbourne and works as a fitness influencer and reality TV personality, was arrested at Noosa on 4 October. He faces charges of assault occasioning bodily harm, meaning an assault that causes actual physical injury, and strangulation in a domestic setting. Police allege he choked and assaulted his wife, Snezana Wood, while the family was holidaying on the Sunshine Coast, and that he choked her until she thought she would die.
Because of the strangulation charge, Wood is in what is known as a "show cause" position. That means the law presumes against bail unless he can show he does not pose a risk of re-offending. The court's task is to weigh that question, and the arguments on both sides turn on it.
The Crown, the state's prosecution team, submitted that Wood used drugs and alcohol and engaged in a "party lifestyle". His lawyer, Paula Morreau KC, a senior barrister, said there is no suggestion Wood suffers from addiction. His lawyer also said he "struggles with anger".
Wood's proposals, if he is released, have changed since the first hearing. He now proposes to live in Tasmania, where his father lives, and has offered a condition "to not enter Victoria", where Snezana Wood lives. At the earlier application he had sought to live in Melbourne. His legal team has also proposed that he complete a "men's behavioural change" course, and his lawyers have indicated he will fight the charges.
At the first bail hearing, photos of Snezana Wood's injuries were tendered to the court, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. Snezana Wood supported the charges at that hearing. The alleged violence is said to have taken place in the presence of an adult witness and close to young children.
Separately, Wood lost a bid to stop media from viewing court files connected to his domestic violence bail proceedings, the ABC reported on 23 October. He is being held at the Wolston correctional centre, a prison near Brisbane.
