WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames will make his Zuffa Boxing debut against Gerome Warburton on 14 November, BBC Sport reports. The fight takes place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and it is the first Zuffa Boxing event held in the country.

Zuffa Boxing is the professional boxing arm of the company behind the UFC, the mixed martial arts organisation. Its Riyadh card is built around a non-title fight. Adames's WBC belt will not be on the line, so the result will not change who holds that title.

The bout is a headline 165-pound catchweight. A catchweight is a weight the two fighters agree between themselves, rather than a fixed division limit. Middleweight is normally 160 pounds, so both men will be fighting at a weight above the standard limit.

Adames arrives with a professional record of 25 wins, one defeat and one draw. He last fought in March, when he defended his title against Austin "Ammo" Williams. Boxers who go a long stretch between fights often return to the ring with a clear plan, and his camp will be looking to make the most of the new platform.

Warburton, the challenger, has a record of 18 wins, two defeats and two draws. In September he defended his WBA continental title, a regional belt below the world championships, by beating Nathan Heaney on points. A points decision means the winner is picked by the judges' scorecards after the full distance, rather than by a knockout or stoppage.

For a first-time viewer, the story here is simple. A reigning world champion is stepping into a new promotion, in a new country, against an opponent who has a title of his own on his résumé. Both men have experience at the top of the sport, but neither is fighting for a belt on the night.

The undercard also carries a debut. Jason Moloney will make his Zuffa debut against Andres Teran in a 10-round bantamweight bout, the second-billed fight on the card. Bantamweight is a lighter division, with a limit of 118 pounds, and a 10-round contest is a full-length bout that runs ten three-minute rounds.

The date is 14 November, so fans have a little under two weeks to get up to speed on both men. Expect the coverage to focus on how the two styles match up, and whether the new promotion's first Saudi show gives Adames and Warburton the kind of stage they have been waiting for.
