Inde Navarrette made her debut as host of Saturday Night Live on the show's Halloween episode. Her monologue picked up a joke that had already drawn criticism.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that she said, "So every morning, I put on my little whore outfit, and I hit the gym." The line was a callback to the monologue Shane Gillis delivered on the episode of October 10.

In that earlier monologue, Gillis said he had not been to a gym in so long that he did not know women "just dress like whores now." He also described neon shorts. The joke faced backlash and criticism, as USA Today also reported.

The Halloween episode had other famous faces. Tom Hanks returned as his character David S. Pumpkins in a surprise appearance during the cold open. The cold open is the short sketch that starts each episode, before the show's opening credits. James Austin Johnson played Donald Trump, who crashed the cold open party to talk about the upcoming midterms, the elections held halfway through a president's term.

Navarrette also spoke about her next acting job. She said she will play Rogue in Marvel Studios' X-Men reboot, meaning a fresh start for the franchise with a new cast and new stories.

Viewers who want to see the episode can find it on the official Saturday Night Live YouTube channel. A video there is titled "SNL Host Inde Navarrette Has the Same Favorite Ghost as Jane Wickline."
