Lizzo Goes Full Dolly Parton for Halloween 2026

Lizzo spent Halloween 2026 as Dolly Parton, and she tied the look to one specific record. Billboard reported on 31 October 2026 that the singer recreated Parton's iconic "Jolene" look for the holiday.
The costume was inspired by the artwork for "Jolene," Parton's 1973 single. Lizzo wore a skin-tight yellow jumpsuit with floral designs and a platinum blonde wig. She also shared photos of an alternate "Jolene" single cover, recreated with a bright red background.
Lizzo posted a video of the costume on Instagram with the caption "Singing Jolene tonight 4 U @dollyparton." In the same post, she thanked Parton for asking her to play flute on one of Parton's albums and for believing in humanity.
That album is Rockstar, released in 2023. Lizzo played flute on the version of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" that appears on it. Parton's record is built around cover versions of rock songs, so the flute part put Lizzo on a track that many listeners would not have expected to hear her on.
Lizzo was not dressed as Parton all night. She also wore a second Halloween costume in 2026, as Seiko Ayase, a character from Dandadan, a Japanese animated series.
For anyone who has heard "Jolene" on the radio, the costume is a reminder that a song from 1973 can still turn up on a Halloween night, sung loudly by a singer dressed as the woman who wrote it.
