Dubai Design Week opens on 3 November 2026 with its 12th edition, a six-day run of exhibitions, talks and markets across Dubai Design District, known as d3. The organisers say the event is meant to celebrate design, craft and culture from across the Middle East. Dezeen reported on the programme ahead of the opening.

The week's centrepiece is Downtown Design, an annual fair that brings together regional and international brands, makers and manufacturers. It runs from 4 to 8 November. Exhibitors show furniture, textiles, lighting, and kitchen and bathroom products. Visitors can also walk through site-specific installations, which are works built for one particular place, and join talks and networking sessions.

British-Nigerian designer Yinka Ilori designed this year's annual lounge for the Champagne house Veuve Clicquot. The project is called Chasing The Sun.

Memphis Milano, the Italian company founded by Ettore Sottsass, will open an exhibition on his work. Sottsass led the Memphis movement in the 1980s, a style known for bright colours and bold geometric shapes. The exhibition is part of the design week programme.

The 2026 UAE Designer Exhibition is themed "Inherited Futures". It features works by 30 designers based in the UAE, who focus on materials, form and technology. Visitors will see how local makers approach those questions in their own practice.

Dubai studio Nao Architects won the Urban Commission, a competition that picks a design for a public installation. Its entry, Three Gardens and a Room, responds to the theme "Atmospheres". It will stay on display for the whole week.

Other threads run through the week too. Abwab, which means "doors" in Arabic, is one of the headline features. Workshops take place in the Maker Space at d3. The Marketplace, a weekend-long outdoor retail area, gives shoppers a chance to buy directly from makers. Talks at The Forum bring together designers, creatives and thinkers.

Dubai Design Week says this edition celebrates people, ideas and creative exchange. For visitors, that means a mix of shopping, looking and listening, spread across the same few days. Anyone planning a trip should check the official site for opening hours and entry details.
