New Zealanders will vote in the general election on Saturday 7 November, and the parties are now in the last week of campaigning. The Electoral Commission says voting places will be open from 9.00am to 7.00pm on election day. The Prime Minister is responsible for announcing the date of a general election.

Advance voting began on Monday 26 October, before the final week, according to the Electoral Commission.

National Party leader Christopher Luxon campaigned in his Botany electorate on 1 November and spoke to media that day, as RNZ reported in its live coverage.

Reuters reported on 1 November on New Zealand's two-speed economy and the dilemma it poses for the ruling National Party. The New Zealand Herald published an article the same day on the paths to power for Labour and National as the final week began.

RNZ is running daily live coverage of the campaign through to election day. Its election team includes Political Editor Jo Moir and Deputy Editor Craig McCulloch.
