Haley Stevens, who lost the Michigan Democratic Senate primary to Abdul El-Sayed by a close margin, has endorsed Republican Mike Rogers. Politico reported the endorsement on November 1, 2026, on the eve of the midterm elections. Rogers is the Republican nominee in the Michigan Senate race, and El-Sayed is the Democratic nominee.

Stevens announced her support in a video posted to X. She also backed Rogers in person in Detroit. When endorsing him, she said, "I don't belong in Abdul's campaign," according to NBC News. Rogers is Donald Trump's pick for the Senate seat in Michigan.

On Sunday, November 1, Stevens appeared with Rogers at Perfecting Church in Detroit around 11:20 a.m., according to the Detroit News. The church is predominantly Black. Earlier that weekend, Stevens had been scheduled to join El-Sayed at a predominantly Black church in Detroit's North End.

That planned appearance fell apart over an advertisement. Stevens had said she would appear with El-Sayed only if he denounced a campaign ad from an outside group that blamed US support of Israel for rising cost of living. The Guardian reported that El-Sayed declined her request. His campaign then formally disinvited Stevens from its events in the closing days of the campaign.

Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, a Michigan Democrat, told CNN that she had told Stevens "this isn't working" about the planned Sunday event with El-Sayed.

Stevens' fiancé, Jason Turkish, has publicly condemned El-Sayed while supporting Rogers. The Guardian also reported that Turkish has donated to Republican candidates this year, including Maine Senator Susan Collins.
