Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood will not play in Australia's upcoming one-day and Twenty20 series against England, according to The Guardian. None of the three appears in either squad.

The break is a planned one. The three fast bowlers are being rested to refresh for a busy summer that includes 10 Test matches in 14 weeks. They had already been rested after Australia's three-Test series against South Africa, as Fox Sports Australia reported. Cummins is Australia's Test captain, so his absence from the shorter formats keeps his workload in check.

The series is three one-day internationals, which are 50-over matches for each side, and five Twenty20 internationals, which are 20 overs a side. Mitchell Marsh will captain Australia in both formats.

The squads bring several new faces. Mahli Beardman has been named in both squads, and he will make his one-day debut after playing a single T20 for Australia. Lachlan Shaw has been picked in the T20 squad for the first time. Jake Fraser-McGurk returns to the T20 side for the first time since 2025, and Tim David will lead the T20 attack. Jack Edwards is in both squads.

Spencer Johnson and Liam Scott come back into the one-day squad. Nathan Ellis will miss the ODI series while he recovers from a side strain.

Travis Head, Matthew Renshaw, Josh Inglis, Cooper Connolly and Cameron Green will be managed through the T20 series, which means they are not expected to play every match. Renshaw and Green are in the one-day squad, so they will still feature in that part of the tour.

For casual fans, a squad list is a quick map of who is in, who is resting and who is hoping for a first chance. This one has plenty of each. Cricket Australia's own announcement, headed "Fresh faces add new look to Aussie white-ball squads", frames it the same way, with several players getting their first proper run in the shorter formats.
