Harriet Phillips Talks Royal Life in First HELLO! Interview
Harriet Phillips, wife of Peter Phillips, has given her first interview about life in the royal family. HELLO! magazine published it on 2 November 2026, and it was conducted in Gloucestershire.
Peter Phillips is the son of Princess Anne. HELLO! says he is 20th in the line of succession, the order of people who would become monarch next. The couple married on 6 June at All Saints Church in Kemble, Gloucestershire.
HELLO! lists the wedding guests as the Princess Royal, the King and Queen, the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Mike and Zara Tindall, and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. Harriet wore a floor-length gown by the designer Emilia Wickstead, with a lace overlay, which is a layer of lace laid over the main fabric.
Harriet is 45 and a former NHS nurse. She is the mother of Georgina, who is 14. She is also now stepmother to Peter's daughters, Savannah, 15, and Isla, 14.
In the interview, Harriet describes Peter as her best friend. She says the pair met on the sidelines of a school hockey pitch. She also recalls having tea in the garden with Princess Anne, and says she can always turn to the Princess of Wales for advice.
Harriet and Georgina have settled into family life on a farm on Gatcombe, Princess Anne's estate in Gloucestershire. Princess Anne has welcomed both of them to the family. In a HELLO! report from August 2026, Princess Anne, who is 76, said she has no plans to retire.
The couple's relationship has been public for some time. They announced their engagement on 1 August 2025, and the news was shared through HELLO! magazine. Their first public appearance together was at Badminton Horse Trials, the Gloucestershire eventing competition, in May 2024.
Royal Ascot, the racing meeting in Berkshire that the royal family attends each June, has also marked steps in their story. Peter went to the meeting in 2025 with Harriet, then his girlfriend. In June 2026, Harriet made her debut in the carriage procession, the parade of horse-drawn carriages that opens the event.
