Marc Warren wins back his DP World Tour card at 45

Marc Warren is going back to the DP World Tour. The 45-year-old Scot birdied the last hole of the HotelPlanner Tour grand final to secure his place, three years after he lost his card.
A birdie is one stroke under par on a hole. Warren needed a good finish, because he started the week 20th in the Road to Mallorca Rankings. That season-long points table decides who earns a DP World Tour card for the following year, and the top 15 qualify. He had to climb, and he did.
He finished joint fifth in the grand final, seven shots behind the winner, Julien Sale. Sale won by four strokes. Warren's place in the final standings took him to 13th overall, two spots inside the qualifying line. BBC Sport reported that he was the oldest player in the grand final field.
Warren is no stranger to the main tour. He has four wins there, and his highest world ranking is 48th. Losing his card meant a return to the feeder circuit, the tour below, where players earn their way back up. Golf Monthly named him the biggest mover of the event.
The season's other headline belongs to Hamish Brown, who won the Road to Mallorca title over the full year. Sale finished second overall, one place behind Brown in the rankings. Sale is 29 and will step up to the main tour for the first time next season. John Gough finished 10th and Will Enefer 12th. In total, 15 players earned DP World Tour cards for 2027.
Warren will not be on his own in the new season. The Scotsman reports that Scott Jamieson will also play on the DP World Tour next year, alongside him.
For Warren, the story is about one hole. He needed to hit the right shots over four days and then hole the putt on the 18th. He did that, and a career that looked to be on the other side of the tour fence is back on the main circuit.
