The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping Album Arrives Nov. 13 With 29 Songs

The soundtrack album for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is due on Nov. 13, released on MCA. The project, titled Sunrise on the Reaping (The Album), runs to 29 songs, according to Billboard, which reported the details on Nov. 2. Dave Cobb is the executive producer, the person who oversees the project as a whole.
The track list draws on a wide mix of names. Ella Langley contributes "Here Then We're Gone," and Stephen Wilson Jr. appears with "First in Line." Stevie Nicks is on "Doing The Best That I Can (Arena Mix)," Tyler Childers on "Old Money," and The Smashing Pumpkins on "Black Star." Noah Kahan performs "Draw You Out," and Noah Cyrus sings "Ash and Snow."
Gigi Perez is on "Favor," and she was the first artist to send music for the album. The lineup also includes Kacey Musgraves, The Cure, Madeline Edwards and Carter Faith.
The album arrives a week before the film. Sunrise on the Reaping is a Lionsgate production, due in cinemas on Nov. 20, and it is directed by Francis Lawrence. The story follows 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy from District 12, beginning on the morning of the reaping, the lottery that picks the teenagers who will compete in the 50th annual Hunger Games. The film is set 24 years before the events of the original trilogy.
The film's score has its own date. James Newton Howard composed the original music, and he said in a post on his official Facebook page dated Oct. 26 that it will be available on Nov. 20, the same day the film opens.
Fans who want to dress for the occasion have options too. Lionsgate's official online shop sells shirts and posters inspired by Haymitch Abernathy and the 50th Hunger Games.
For anyone new to the franchise, the short version is this: a soundtrack album on Nov. 13, a film in cinemas on Nov. 20, and a score arriving the same week. The album's 29 tracks give listeners a first look at the music before the story reaches the screen.
