Sonic the Hedgehog Heads to Lingokids With Five Games in December

Sonic the Hedgehog is heading to a younger audience this winter. Five Sonic games will launch on the Lingokids platform on Dec. 3, as part of a partnership with Sega.
The games were developed as a collaboration between Sega and Lingokids Studios. They feature Sonic, Amy, Eggman and the Chao, the small creatures that appear across the series. Variety reported the launch details.
A second group of five Sonic games is slated for release on Lingokids in spring 2027. That means the lineup will arrive in two waves, one in December and one in the new year.
Lingokids is a children's platform with more than 4,000 games, shows and songs. The company says more than 20 million kids use it each month, and that the app has reached nearly 200 million downloads worldwide.
Why Sonic? Lingokids' 2026 Kids Interactive Entertainment Report ranks Sonic the Hedgehog as the second-most popular character among boys aged 3 to 8. Lingokids Studios chief Mathias Royer says Sonic is the most-searched character on the platform.
The character has been around for more than three decades, but his new audience is preschool and early-primary age. For parents, the games are the clearest sign yet that the Sonic brand is being aimed at children who may never have played the originals. For the platform, it is a chance to offer a character that children already ask for by name.
The first five games go live on Dec. 3. The next five are due in spring 2027.
