First Trailer Released for Guy Nattiv's The Liberation, Starring Carrie Coon

Bleecker Street has released the first trailer for The Liberation, a psychological thriller led by Carrie Coon. The studio's trailer launch came on Monday, 2 November, according to Deadline.
Guy Nattiv wrote and directed the film. Coon plays Rita, a 1980s New Jersey housewife and Holocaust survivor. Bleecker Street describes Rita as a woman in midlife, haunted by the weight of her past.
Her story takes a turn when she meets a magnetic young spiritual leader, played by Lily James. Bella Ramsey and Odessa Young play Rita's daughters, and Tracy Letts plays her husband.
The film had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado, a showcase where sales agents and buyers look at new films before deciding which ones reach cinemas and streaming services.
Bleecker Street plans a short theatrical run beginning Friday, 6 November, in New York and Los Angeles. A run like this, held in cinemas in both cities, is what makes a film eligible for Academy Award consideration. The wider release is set for 8 January 2027.
Nattiv and Coon also spoke about the film at Deadline's Contenders London 2026 event in October, a gathering where awards campaigns and industry figures meet ahead of the season.
The January date means that most audiences will wait until the new year to see the film on a wide scale. Those in New York and Los Angeles can catch it sooner, once the short run opens on Friday.
