Adelaide Crows player Josh Worrell fined $2,400 over July pedestrian crash

Adelaide Crows player Josh Worrell has been convicted and fined $2,400 after his car hit a pedestrian in July. The 25-year-old pleaded guilty in the Adelaide Magistrates Court to an aggravated charge of driving without due care. That means driving without the care and attention a careful driver would show, with aggravating circumstances.

The crash happened on July 10. Worrell ran a red light on Port Road and struck the pedestrian, according to ABC News. The man suffered a 2-centimetre cut to his head and other minor injuries.

Worrell then stayed with him for about three hours. He took the man to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. A separate charge of failing to stop, assist and present to police was dropped.

Magistrate Rodney Oates recorded a conviction and ordered Worrell to pay the $2,400 fine. He did not disqualify him from holding a driver's licence, so Worrell keeps his licence.

The case sits outside the football field, and it is handled like any other driving matter in court. A red light is a red light, whoever runs it. For Crows supporters, the story is about a court outcome, not a match result.
