Trump makes final pre-midterm speech at the Reflecting Pool

Donald Trump gave his last public speech before the midterm elections at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington on Monday, 2 November. The midterms are the votes for Congress held halfway through a president's four-year term, and voting takes place on Tuesday, 3 November.
Before the speech, Trump toured 19 states to make a final pitch to voters, Reuters reported.
The pool had been the subject of a troubled renovation earlier this summer. CNN reported that it has since reopened after months of repairs.
The first 20 minutes of the speech focused largely on the renovation project carried out by his administration, according to the BBC. BBC North America editor Sarah Smith attended the event.
Trump held up a poster showing an image of the pool when it was clogged with algae. He then stood silently while music played, the Associated Press reported.
Trump also said that Barack Obama and Joe Biden had spent "hundreds of millions" on the reflecting pool, according to the Associated Press.
