Stratford East Unveils 2027 Season, Opening With Noises Off

Stratford East has announced its 2027 season, and it starts in February with Michael Frayn's farce Noises Off. The theatre, based in Newham in East London, has named four productions. Two of them are co-productions, meaning two companies share the work of making a show.
The season opens with Noises Off, which runs from 5 February to 13 March 2027. Lisa Spirling directs. Paterson Joseph plays Lloyd and Tameka Empson plays Dotty, according to WhatsOnStage, which first reported the season.
Next is Winsome Pinnock's Talking in Tongues, which runs from 1 April to 1 May 2027. It is the first revival of the play, meaning a new staging of an existing work, since its premiere at the Royal Court in London in 1991. Jade Lewis directs. Tamara Lawrance plays Claudette and Kayla Meikle plays Leela.
In May, the theatre stages Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya from 19 May to 19 June 2027. This is a co-production with Bristol Old Vic. The production uses David Lan's English translation and is directed by Rikki Henry.
The season also includes a world premiere, meaning the first ever staging of a new play. The Fingerprint Bureau is written by Sonali Bhattacharyya and directed by Milli Bhatia. It is a co-production between Stratford East and Kali Theatre Company, a company that makes work rooted in South Asian culture.
Taken together, the season moves from a classic farce to a 1991 drama, a Chekhov play and a new commission. Two of the four titles are shared with other companies. Stratford East's 2027 programme is now public, and tickets for each run will depend on the box office details that the theatre publishes.
