Clark Says Democrats Are on Track to Win House Control

House Democratic Whip Katherine Clark said on November 3, 2026, that Democrats are on track to win control of the House that night. She made the remark in an interview with NPR's Ailsa Chang about the midterm elections, and NPR published the interview the same day.
Clark, a Democrat from Massachusetts, is the No. 2 Democratic leader in the U.S. House. The whip's job is the second-ranking post in the party's House leadership, below the top leader.
Earlier in the cycle, Clark gave her view of what was driving her party's confidence. In September, she said Democrats' momentum ahead of the midterms had been driven by their focus on the economy, according to The Washington Post.
In October, Rep. Marcy Kaptur said Clark would restore "a sense of order" to the House if Democrats prevail in the midterms, Politico reported.
The push to win back the House began well before Election Day. In late February 2026, Democrats met to discuss strategy for regaining control of the chamber in the midterm elections, NPR reported.
