Queen Camilla took off her shoes to pick up litter on a beach in Antigua and Barbuda, joining King Charles III on the sand during the couple's Caribbean tour.

The outing took place at Fort James Beach, according to Hello!, which reported the visit on 4 November 2026. The magazine said the Queen went barefoot as the pair collected rubbish. It also reported that the King was "shocked" that 71 bags of litter had already been gathered that morning.

The Queen had joined the King in Antigua and Barbuda on 1 November, after he had visited the Bahamas and Guyana. The tour was first scheduled to run from 27 October to 4 November 2026, according to Caribbean Journal, which published the itinerary in September.

During the clean-up, the couple spoke with Jennifer Meranto, founder and chief executive of the Adopt a Coastline movement, a group that organises coastal clean-up work. Hello! reported that the Queen was given a blue bracelet made from recycled materials as a gift during the visit.

The beach was not the only stop with a weather story. Reuters published video of the royal couple at Antigua and Barbuda's 45th Independence Day celebrations, and of King Charles caught in a heavy downpour during the trip. The BBC filmed the same rain. Its footage shows the Queen being handed an umbrella when the shower began, while the King signalled for one of his own.

The King and Queen have made the Caribbean trip as a shared engagement, and the visit to Antigua and Barbuda included both the cleanup and the national anniversary events.

For anyone who has ever tried to keep a bare foot clear of a beach, the image is a simple one. A Queen in bare feet, a King with a litter picker, and a morning's haul of 71 bags. The pictures travelled quickly, and they show a visit built around something small and practical: the rubbish on the sand.
