Democrat Jon Ossoff won re-election to the U.S. Senate from Georgia, defeating Republican Mike Collins in the November 3, 2026 election. The Associated Press declared Ossoff the winner, giving him a second six-year term in the chamber of Congress that confirms federal judges and approves most cabinet appointments.

Collins was serving as a U.S. Representative, a member of the House of Representatives, when he launched his challenge. He ran with the backing of President Donald Trump, according to Reuters.

Money was a large part of the contest. Ossoff raised at least $115.9 million for the 2026 election cycle, the full span of fundraising and campaigning for the vote, and The Guardian reported that this was many times what Collins raised. In the last fundraising quarter before the election, Ossoff brought in $33 million, according to the Washington Post.

Polling also favored Ossoff for the whole campaign. He never fell behind Collins in the polls, according to The Guardian. In the week before the vote, he appeared at a rally alongside former president Barack Obama.

The result has also drawn attention to Ossoff's national profile. He has been cited as a potential Democratic presidential candidate in 2028. He has said he has "zero interest" in running for president.
