Amanda Serrano Sets Farewell Fight Against Skye Falzon for 9 January

Amanda Serrano will end her career on Saturday 9 January 2027, when she defends her titles against Australia's Skye Falzon in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Serrano confirmed the date at a news conference on Tuesday 3 November. The fight will take place at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico and will be broadcast live on DAZN. Promoters have named the night "The Last Walk."
The bout is for Serrano's unified WBO and WBA featherweight titles. A unified champion holds more than one of the sport's major belts, and featherweight is the 126-pound weight limit. Falzon, 37, is 12-2 with seven knockouts and is ranked fourth among contenders. BBC Sport reports that Serrano is 50-4-1 with 32 knockouts.
Serrano is a seven-division champion, and she is the first and only Puerto Rican boxer, male or female, to become undisputed world champion. Undisputed means holding all the major belts at the same time. She also shares the women's knockout record with American Christy Martin.
Her name has been on some of the biggest nights in the women's sport. In 2022 she and Ireland's Katie Taylor became the first female boxers to headline New York's Madison Square Garden. In 2023 she beat Brazil's Danila Ramos in the first women's unified world championship contested over 12 three-minute rounds.
She has made sure her last fight follows that same route. Serrano said she chose a full 12-round distance so she could enjoy every second of it. Serrano and Falzon have already held a face-off in Puerto Rico, a first look at the woman who will try to end the night on the other side of the ring.
For a casual fan, the stakes are easy to follow. Serrano is trying to close her career with her belts still around her waist, and Falzon is trying to take them. Both fighters have a lot to lose, and the 12 rounds give each of them time to make the fight their own.
Serrano says she wants to be remembered as a "game-changer," a word that will be tested in one more night in front of a home crowd. The date is set, and the countdown to January has started.
