Creative Cities Convention heads to Glasgow in May 2027

The UK's Creative Cities Convention, a meeting place for people who make or distribute TV and screen content outside London, will hold its 2027 edition in Glasgow. Deadline reported the location on 4 November 2026.
The convention will run at Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall on 19 and 20 May 2027. It has grown to two full days in May. Screen Scotland, the public agency that supports film and television production in Scotland, is backing the Glasgow edition.
Glasgow was meant to host the event in 2020. That edition was cancelled because of the pandemic, and the Royal Concert Hall had already been booked for it. The city is now getting its turn.
The convention moves to a different city each year, which is why the location news matters to people across the industry. Liverpool hosted the most recent edition, in May 2026. Bradford was chosen for the seventh.
Several familiar names are coming back. Mobeen Azhar returns as host for a third year. Kirsty Wark will be a guest interviewer. The Creative Skills Summit, a separate gathering focused on training and careers, returns for a third year, hosted by Jameel Shariff. For the first time, it will share a venue with the main convention in 2027. The Skills Summit is free for registered convention delegates.
The 2027 theme is "It's a Big Big World." The convention's website also highlights Glasgow's credentials as a film base. The city is a UNESCO City of Music, and it hosted 140 productions in 2024, according to the convention. Its streets have stood in for other places too. Glasgow doubled as Gotham for The Batman and as New York for Spider-Man.
There is also a training placement. In 2025 the convention introduced a month-long internship at Clapperboard Studios for a young person. It runs for a second year, and the current intern is Michael Tasker.
Some details are still to come. The organisers say the commissioners attending in 2027 will be announced in the new year. Commissioners are the people who decide which programmes get made, so their names are the next thing many delegates will look for.
For the crews, writers and producers who attend, the convention is a chance to pitch and to meet people face to face. The last Liverpool edition drew around 500 people, according to the convention's website. The 2026 event was billed for more than 400 delegates and more than 65 speakers.
The Glasgow dates are set. Anyone planning to attend should watch for the commissioner list and the full programme.
