The Greatest: Amazon's Muhammad Ali series lands with all eight episodes

Amazon's limited series The Greatest arrives on Prime Video on 4 November 2026, with all eight episodes released at once. The show is about the life of Muhammad Ali, the boxer who died in 2016 at the age of 74.
The series focuses on a specific stretch of his life. It covers the four years between Cassius Clay winning light-heavyweight gold at the 1960 Rome Olympics and his victory over Sonny Liston for the heavyweight world title. Light-heavyweight is a division below the top weight class, so the story follows a young fighter climbing from Olympic champion to the sport's biggest prize. Amazon MGM Studios says the series will premiere in more than 240 countries and territories.
It is billed as the first authorised scripted series about Ali. Lonnie Ali, his widow, is an executive producer. Ben Watkins is the showrunner, the person who runs the show day to day and shapes its scripts. The Guardian describes it as an eight-part series.
Jaalen Best plays Ali, then Cassius Clay. Omari Hardwick plays Cassius Clay Sr, his father. Kai Parham plays Rudy, Ali's younger brother. The cast also includes Michael Ealy as Malcolm X and Hill Harper as Elijah Muhammad, the leader of the Nation of Islam, the movement Ali joined in the years the series covers.
For viewers new to Ali, the period matters because it is when he became the figure most people remember. The Olympic gold, the title fight with Liston and the years that followed are the foundation of his public story. The series puts the focus on the people around him as well as the ring.
If you are picking this up without knowing much about boxing, you do not need to. The show is built as a drama about a young man, his family and the world changing around him. Eight episodes give it room to do that, and the first episode is available from the moment the series launches.
