A 3-foot alligator walked into a bagel shop in Southport, North Carolina, on Thursday, October 29, and was safely removed, according to The Guardian. The Southport Police Department said its officers and an animal protective services officer, identified as Ward, captured the animal and relocated it from Bagel Dock Express.

The alligator entered the shop at about 4:30 p.m. through its back door, which was open, the Charlotte Observer reported. Surveillance cameras recorded it walking through the stockroom to the front counter. Video from the shop shows the animal moving in with confidence and then sprinting.

Jesse Driscoll, the owner of Bagel Dock Express, was installing a new oven when the alligator arrived. Inside the shop, a customer armed himself with a chair to confront the animal. No injuries were reported from the visit.

The shop later posted the surveillance footage on its Facebook page, joking that word of its fresh bagels had made its way into the swamp. The business is located at 5021 Southport Crossing Way in Southport.
