GOG Holds Its First-Ever Games Showcase on 5 November

GOG, the storefront that sells classic and modern PC games, will hold its first-ever games showcase on Thursday, 5 November. The stream starts at 7 PM CET, which is 1 PM Eastern Time, according to GOG's Facebook post.
The event also falls on GOG's 18th anniversary. Video Games Chronicle reports that the showcase will include updates on new games being added to the store. GOG has said it will also announce new features.
Preservation is the part of the showcase with the longest backstory. GOG launched its Preservation Program in November 2024, and it has said the games it maintains carry a "Preserved by GOG" stamp. GOG's own blog describes the work as keeping older games playable on modern hardware. The showcase will include new efforts in the same area.
Preservation matters because games from earlier years often stop running as computers, operating systems and graphics chips change. Keeping them alive takes ongoing technical work, and players depend on it when a title is no longer sold anywhere else.
GOG's catalogue is also built around how games are installed. All games on GOG are DRM-free, meaning they have no digital rights management, the software locks that can tie a game to a launcher or an online check. Those games can be played offline without a launcher, so the copy a player buys is the copy they install.
Viewers can watch the stream on GOG's channels at the start time above. The showcase is the first of its kind for the storefront, so it will be the first time GOG has presented its new games, features and preservation work in one broadcast.
