Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell says he has full movement in his lower body and is making progress with his upper body. He made the statement on Wednesday, two days after a neck injury forced him off the field in Detroit's win over the Minnesota Vikings. The update is the most detailed word yet on the 26-year-old's condition.

The injury happened on Sunday, November 1, during Week 8 of the 2026 NFL season. Campbell made a tackle and stayed down. Medical staff treated him on the field for nine minutes before he was carted off. He was taken to a hospital in the Detroit area for evaluation and monitoring.

On Sunday, the Lions said preliminary indications were positive. The team said Campbell was resting and recovering at a local hospital. The club has not described the exact nature of the neck injury.

Campbell was still in the hospital when he issued Wednesday's statement. In it, he said he has full movement in his lower body. He also said he is continuing to make progress with movement in his upper body. No further medical details have been released.

Campbell is in his fourth NFL season. He was named an All-Pro last year, and in May he signed a four-year contract extension with Detroit worth $81 million. All-Pro honors go to the best players at each position, as chosen by a panel of media members.

Linebackers spend most of a game in the thick of the action, reading the offensive line and flowing to the ball. Losing one for an extended stretch changes how a defense lines up and who has to pick up the slack. For now, the focus is on Campbell's recovery, and the Lions have not announced a timetable for his return.
