AMC Theatres posted total revenue of $1.71 billion for the three months ended 30 September, the largest quarterly revenue the company has ever reported, according to Variety.

That figure was up 31.6% from $1.3 billion a year earlier. It also beat the company's own previous record, set in the second quarter of 2026, when Reuters reported revenue of $1.60 billion, ahead of analyst expectations of $1.47 billion.

Most of the money came through the front door. Ticket revenue rose to $954.5 million, from $715.1 million a year earlier. Sales of popcorn, drinks and other snacks, which the industry calls food and beverage, climbed to $589.5 million from $451.8 million.

The company also returned to a healthy profit. AMC reported net income of $109.3 million, the money left after all costs are paid. A year earlier it had lost $298.2 million. Earnings per share, the profit attributed to each share of stock, came to 12 cents, compared with a loss of 58 cents in the same quarter of 2025.

The films behind those numbers are easy to name. Variety reported that Spider-Man: Brand New Day has grossed $2.5 billion worldwide, making it the third-highest grossing film in history. The Odyssey has taken $1.8 billion at the box office. Both titles drove a record weekend for AMC in August. The company said at the time that it had set the highest weekend revenue mark in its 106-year history, and Yahoo Finance credited the two films with powering that result. Media reports from the August opening put Spider-Man at about $355 million in the United States and Canada, and about $927 million globally.

The wider market was strong too. Figures published on 3 November put North American box office at a record $3.03 billion for the third quarter, up 28% on a year earlier. "North America" here means the United States and Canada, the territory the industry uses for its domestic totals.

AMC is the largest movie exhibition company in the United States and in the world, according to its investor site. It runs about 860 theatres and roughly 9,600 screens across the globe. That scale means a big share of any hit's ticket sales passes through its doors, and its snack counters take a cut of every visit.

For people who go to the cinema, the quarter is a clear sign that audiences showed up in large numbers this year. For the company, it is the first quarter in a while where the bottom line and the top line both pointed up at once.
