World of Warcraft: Forever Goes Live Worldwide With Short Queues

World of Warcraft: Forever went live worldwide on 4 November 2026, when its countdown reached zero at 3 PM Pacific time. Blizzard had set that date ahead of time. It is a new version of the long-running online fantasy game, and it opens as a permanent home alongside the current game and Classic WoW, a version that recreates earlier editions.
Players met short login queues as soon as the game opened. The list of rulesets, the game's main choice of play style, appeared greyed out at first. GameSpot reports that servers began working as intended about 30 minutes after launch. Apart from that first half hour, the launch has seen minimal lag and few issues.
The biggest change is how players are grouped. Older versions of the game use realms, individual servers that each have their own community. Forever replaces them with a "realmless" system. Players pick one ruleset, and everyone on that ruleset sits on one large group of linked servers.
The three rulesets are player vs. environment (PvE), where players mainly fight computer-controlled enemies, roleplaying, and player vs. player (PvP). Blizzard describes PvP as a ruleset where players are almost always at risk of attack from opposing players. Blizzard says the design takes away the pressure of choosing the right realm at launch and makes it easier to connect with friends.
Forever's content starts at level 1 and runs to level 60 across the original continents. Blizzard describes the setting as a new and reimagined Azeroth, the game's world. The update adds the Skyborne as a playable race, new and expanded zones, and 10-player and 20-player raids. A raid is a group challenge built around a large boss fight.
Blizzard gave every class a damage boost ahead of launch. It has also teased a new legendary weapon, a rare item players can earn, along with new class and race combinations. It has not said when those will arrive.
Some smaller details are also set. Watching 4 hours of an eligible World of Warcraft stream on Twitch during launch week earns the Pouch of Violet Dust toy, a cosmetic item in the game. Gamepad support is available in beta, which means it is still being tested. Players can link their Battle.net and Discord accounts to keep in touch with their guild, the group of players they team up with, both inside and outside the game.
For players who have waited for a fresh start, the first day has been a straightforward one. The first half hour was rougher, and the rest of the launch has so far run quietly.
