Doja Cat Sings 'Paint the Town Blue' in Dallas

Doja Cat swapped one line of her hit "Paint the Town Red" for a political cheer at her Dallas concert on Nov. 4, singing "I don't care, I paint the town blue" at the American Airlines Center, Billboard reported.
The change was a nod to the 2026 midterm elections. Billboard reported that Texas turned blue after the vote, and that the lyric celebrated the state's results and Democratic victories. Complex also tied the change to the midterm results. Midterms are the national elections held halfway through a US president's four-year term, when every seat in the House of Representatives and about a third of the Senate are up for election.
She did not keep the new words to herself. According to Billboard, Doja Cat invited the audience to sing the "paint the town blue" line back to her, turning a chorus that many fans already know into a call and response.
The original song came out in August 2023 as the lead single from her album Scarlet. It was her first solo No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the weekly US singles chart that ranks songs using radio airplay, sales and streaming. "Solo" means the song credited her alone, without a featured guest.
The tour, called Tour Ma Vie, moves on quickly. Doja Cat is scheduled to play San Antonio on Nov. 6 and Houston on Nov. 7, according to Billboard. Fans who want to hear the new line in person have two more chances this week.
