Musixmatch and DistroKid Renew Lyrics Partnership for Independent Artists

Musixmatch and DistroKid have renewed their worldwide lyrics distribution partnership under a new multi-year agreement, the two companies announced on Thursday, 5 November 2026.
The deal keeps one service in place. Under the renewal, DistroKid will continue to offer Musixmatch's lyric distribution through its Lyric Blaster service. Lyric distribution means sending a song's words to streaming platforms, so that lyrics can appear for listeners while the track plays. According to the announcement, Lyric Blaster, powered by Musixmatch, lets artists deliver lyrics to Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Instagram and Amazon.
Neither company disclosed the financial terms of the agreement.
The two firms first teamed up in December 2019. Musixmatch's newsroom presents the renewal as a way to help independent artists bring their lyrics to fans around the world. It describes DistroKid as one of the world's largest music distributors, meaning a company that delivers artists' recordings to streaming services and online stores on their behalf.
For DistroKid users, the lyrics tools sit inside the dashboard. Artists can add synced lyrics, which scroll in time with the song, from the release page in the Songs section. Lyric Blaster is sold as a subscription bought for a specific artist on a DistroKid account.
Musixmatch has been expanding its own product range this year. In March it launched Sentinel, a service that detects when copyrighted music and lyrics appear in AI-generated and user-generated content, meaning material made or uploaded by people rather than companies. AI music platform Suno became Sentinel's first customer in August. In September, Musixmatch launched Musixmatch Pro for Labels, a hub where record companies can manage and distribute lyrics. In October it acquired Music Reports, Inc., the company behind the Songdex copyright registry. Musixmatch said the acquisition will allow it to build what it calls the world's most comprehensive registry of music copyright information.
Musixmatch also cited MiDia research, which found that fans who engage deeply with lyrics are nearly four times more likely to buy merchandise and twice as likely to attend live shows.
Marco Paglia is Co-President of Musixmatch. Phil Bauer is President of DistroKid. The renewal was announced from Bologna, Italy, where Musixmatch is based.
