Miles Teller Says Top Gun 3 Cast Is "Really Excited" to Return

Miles Teller says "everybody's really excited" about coming back for Top Gun 3. In an interview published by Deadline on 5 November 2026, the actor, who plays Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw, the son of Goose, said the cast is eager to reunite.

Paramount announced in April 2026, at CinemaCon, the cinema owners' trade show in Las Vegas, that Top Gun 3 is officially in the works. Christopher McQuarrie, who directed the earlier film, has said he and Ehren Kruger already have the story "in the bag." Kruger co-wrote Top Gun: Maverick, and Deadline reported in January 2024 that he was writing a draft.

The last film set a high bar. Top Gun: Maverick passed $1.4 billion in worldwide ticket sales, a figure that counts cinemas in every country, and it became Tom Cruise's highest-grossing movie. It also earned an Oscar nomination for Best Picture.

Teller spoke warmly about his co-star. He described Cruise as gracious, and said that for many in the cast he is the closest thing to a mentor. He added that Cruise is always available to talk.

Teller also said he hopes Cruise wants to fly planes again in the new film. "We would love to do it," he said. Cruise's next project, Teller told Jimmy Kimmel on his late-night show, is racing cars in Days of Thunder.

The sequel has been in the news for some time. In 2022, Teller said he was in talks with Cruise about returning. In February 2025, he said he did not know any updates on the film, and joked that he had asked Cruise for six months' notice so he could get in shape. Earlier reports in January 2024 said the project aimed to bring Cruise, Teller and Glen Powell back together.

Paramount has not yet been reported to have set a release date, so fans will need to wait for the next official word from the studio.
