Queens of the Stone Age Debut at No. 1 on ARIA Albums Chart With Perfecth

Queens of the Stone Age have debuted at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with Perfecth, according to Billboard, which reported the result on 6 November. ARIA, the Australian Recording Industry Association, publishes the chart each week, ranking the country's most popular albums. A No. 1 debut means the album sold more than any other record that week.
Perfecth is the band's ninth studio album, a term for an album of newly written songs rather than a live set or a compilation. It is also the band's seventh appearance in the ARIA top 10, and their third album to reach No. 1. The earlier chart-toppers were ...Like Clockwork in 2013 and Villains in 2017.
The album also topped the ARIA Vinyl Chart, which lists the best-selling records on vinyl, the format that many fans buy as a physical disc. On the wider UK market, the Official Charts Company reported on 2 November that the band were eyeing a second UK No. 1 album with Perfecth.
The rest of the top of the chart was crowded with new arrivals. Nickelback entered at No. 3 with Everything Under The Sun, their 11th studio album. It is their 10th album to reach the ARIA top 10. Their 2011 album Here And Now spent one week at No. 1.
Further down, Eddie Perfect's live recording of Beetlejuice, taken from the Regent Theatre in Melbourne, debuted at No. 5. Fanny Lumsden's Traditions came in at No. 6, Gretta Ray's Heartsong at No. 11, and Dominic Fike's How To Quit Smoking at No. 22.
The singles chart had its own movement. Tate McRae's "Housewife" spent a third straight week at No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. Tame Impala's "Dracula" climbed from No. 20 to No. 13.
For a new album, a debut at the top of the chart is one of the clearest signs of how many people bought it in its first week. Chart positions are also a record of the physical and digital sales that pay the people who made the album, from session players to the staff who ship the discs. The numbers show where the audience went that week, and for many fans in Australia, that means a new album in their hands.
