Amar Dedic Unlikely to Face Newcastle Sanction Over Bow and Arrow

Newcastle right-back Amar Dedic is unlikely to face a club sanction after he was seen carrying a bow and arrow in the Northumberland countryside. He is expected to start Newcastle's match at Fulham on Saturday, The Guardian reported.
The story began on Wednesday afternoon. A member of the public saw Dedic and a friend walking with bows and arrows and raised the alarm. Northumbria Police received the report shortly after 1:55pm, about two men carrying a bow and arrow along a track by a reservoir on Military Road, in the Harlow Hill area.
Officers then followed a car to Darras Hall, an estate outside Ponteland where Dedic lives. Six patrol cars pursued him back to his home, and officers stopped the vehicle. They seized the bows and arrows from the boot (the rear luggage space) of his car. Dedic was questioned by police.
Newcastle goalkeeper Mark Gillespie and former full-back Paul Dummett were at the house during the police presence, and they helped calm things down. Nobody was hurt, and no charges have been announced.
Northumbria Police said they were satisfied the equipment was for recreational use and posed no threat to the public. Their inquiries are still ongoing, so the matter is not yet closed. The club's view, as reported, is that Dedic acted naively rather than with any wider intent.
Dedic is 24 and plays for Bosnia. Newcastle signed him from Benfica for £29.5 million in the summer of 2026, and he has become a regular part of the squad. A right-back is a defender who patrols the right flank, so he is usually the player who overlaps and delivers crosses from the touchline.
For Newcastle, the next step is simple: a trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham on Saturday. Most of the fans who read this story will be more interested in the football than the archery, and the club seems ready to let the football do the talking. The police inquiry, though, will run on its own timetable.
