Red Bull has extended the contract of Alan Permane as boss of Racing Bulls until the end of 2031. The team announced the deal on 6 November 2026, keeping the 59-year-old in charge of the squad that sits fifth in the championship.

Permane is the team principal, the senior figure who runs the day-to-day operation from the garage to the boardroom. He has a long history in the sport. He spent 34 years at the Enstone-based team, which raced under the names Benetton, Renault and Lotus, before joining Red Bull. During his time there the team won two world championships with Michael Schumacher and two more with Fernando Alonso.

His rise at Racing Bulls came quickly. He was promoted from racing director to team principal in July 2025, taking over from Laurent Mekies. Mekies then moved to the same job at Red Bull itself, after Christian Horner had been sacked as Red Bull's team principal. Red Bull extended Mekies' own contract as its Formula 1 boss through the end of 2031 in October. Oliver Mintzlaff, chief executive of corporate projects and investments, oversees the company's F1 programme.

On the track, Racing Bulls are fifth in the constructors' championship after 19 races. That makes them the strongest team outside what is often called the sport's "big four". Last season, driver Isack Hadjar brought the team its first podium in four years at the Dutch Grand Prix.

For fans, the headline is continuity. Racing Bulls now know who will lead them for the next five seasons, and the people in charge of the parent team have set their own leadership on the same timeline. Permane's deal runs past the end of the current rules era, which gives the team a stable base for the work ahead.
