David Robert Mitchell's The End of Oak Street is set to start streaming on HBO Max on Nov. 13, Variety reported.

The film first reached cinemas on Aug. 14, released by Warner Bros. Pictures. During its theatrical run it grossed $121 million, according to Variety. Cinema takings are the money a film earns from ticket sales at the box office, and that figure is the one studios point to when they talk about a film's performance.

The cast leads with Anne Hathaway as Denise Platt and Ewan McGregor as Greg Platt. Maisy Stella, Christian Convery, Jordan Alexa Davis, P.J. Byrne and Chris Coy also appear in the film.

Mitchell wrote, directed and produced the picture. He is joined on the producing team by J.J. Abrams, Hannah Minghella, Jon Cohen, Matt Jackson and Tommy Harper. Variety put the production budget, the amount spent making the film before any marketing, at $80 million to $92 million.

For Mitchell, it is the first feature film since Under the Silver Lake, which came out in 2018.

Why the timing matters: most films spend a few months in cinemas before moving to home viewing. A "theatrical window" is the gap between those two stages, and studios set it by deal and by strategy. The End of Oak Street moves to HBO Max about three months after its cinema debut. Anyone who missed it on the big screen can now watch at home, on the streaming service, from Nov. 13.

Streaming platforms such as HBO Max are subscription services, so viewers pay a monthly or yearly fee rather than buying a ticket for each film. Warner Bros. Pictures and HBO Max are both part of the same company, which is why a Warner Bros. film can move from cinemas to the platform in this way.

The date is set, and the film's path from cinema to streaming is now clear. Viewers who want to see it can look for it on HBO Max from Nov. 13.
