Jane Elliott Documentary Opens in New York on December 4

Judd Ehrlich's documentary about the educator Jane Elliott opens in cinemas on Friday, December 4, at The Quad in New York City, according to Deadline. The film, Jane Elliott Against the World, also opens in Los Angeles at Laemmle Noho 7.
The release marks the film's move from the festival circuit to paying audiences. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, the independent showcase in Utah where distributors and buyers scout films for their next release. It later won the Jury Award for Best Documentary at the Bentonville Film Festival, in Arkansas, as Deadline reports.
Before the New York opening, the film has one stop of its own. It screens at DOC NYC, the city's large documentary festival, on November 15. Festival screenings are often the first chance for local audiences to see a film before it is available more widely.
The film runs 90 minutes, according to the Quad Cinema's film listing. Tickets for the Quad run go on sale on Monday, November 30, and the cinema is at 34 W. 13th Street in Manhattan. Anyone planning to see it on opening day should buy ahead, since the Quad sells tickets by the screening.
Television is the next step. The film is set to premiere on PBS's Independent Lens series on March 29, 2027, Deadline reports. That gives the documentary a theatrical run first and a broadcast audience later in the year.
Ehrlich produces the film with Max Powers and Elena Gaby. Ehrlich also directed it. Deadline lists the three as producers, and the film's credits follow the usual path for a documentary that starts on the festival circuit, then moves to cinemas and public television.
For anyone who has not followed the film so far, the schedule runs in order: DOC NYC on November 15, the Quad in New York from December 4, Laemmle Noho 7 in Los Angeles, and then Independent Lens in spring 2027. Each step gives a different group of viewers a way to see the film, from people who go to cinemas to those who watch at home.
