Brandon Boyd, the frontman of the rock band Incubus, is making his debut as a composer of film scores. The Hollywood Reporter reported the news in an exclusive published on 6 November 2026.

The film is Unknown Company, an independent World War II science fiction thriller. Boyd wrote the score with musician and composer Gregory Rogove. When the report appeared, the movie was in post-production, the final stage where editing, sound and music are completed before a film is released.

The story follows a small unit of American soldiers. In the final days of the war, they are sent behind enemy lines to recover the wreckage of an unidentified object.

Ross Marquand leads the cast. Marquand is best known for playing a central role in The Walking Dead, according to Bloody Disgusting. The ensemble also includes Hugh Scott, Zak Steiner, Mace Coronel, Kevin Brooks, Sarah Hay and Nolan North. Scott has appeared in Deadpool, and Steiner in Euphoria.

Vincent Talenti directed the film, which was written by Gavin Hignight. Talenti also produced it, alongside Eva Ceja, Dylan Palley and Matt Ryan. Bret Rudnick is the executive producer.

Writing songs for a band and scoring a film are different jobs. A film composer writes music that sits under the pictures and sound, and it has to be timed to individual cuts and scenes. Many musicians have moved into that work over the years, and Boyd's move adds a rock frontman to that list.

For Boyd, the project marks his first feature film score. For the people making Unknown Company, it adds a musician with a large public following to a small independent production. The score is a shared piece of work, written with Rogove.
