Northampton Saints run in seven tries to beat Leicester 39-19

Northampton Saints scored seven tries on Friday night, beating Leicester Tigers 39-19 in the PREM Rugby Cup at DPD Stadium at Franklin's Gardens.
The win kept Saints' hopes of reaching the semi-finals alive, according to BBC Sport. It also stretched their run of home wins to 16 in all competitions. The result was even more welcome for Saints because they had lost their first two games of the season, both away, at Saracens and Harlequins. This was their first home match in the competition.
The PREM Rugby Cup is a competition for clubs from the Premiership, the top tier of English club rugby. The 2026/27 version splits its clubs into two pools of five, and the semi-finals come after the pool games. This was a round three fixture. Kick-off was at 7.45pm, and Saints were led by captain Weimann, according to Northampton Saints.
Saints took control early and were 27-7 ahead at half-time. Tom Rowe, Amena Caqusau and James Martin each scored two tries. A try, the main way to score in rugby, is worth five points and is made by grounding the ball in the opponent's in-goal area behind the try line.
Leicester fought back with three tries. Sam Moli scored two and Osian Thomas scored one. It was not enough to prevent a third successive defeat in the competition. Leicester are now bottom of Pool B.
Elsewhere in the same round, Sale Sharks beat Bristol Bears 21-19 to move top of Pool A.
For Saints, the next step is to build on a home crowd that has now been unbeaten for 16 games in all competitions. For Leicester, the pressure to turn their form around grows with each round.
