The Prince of Wales, known as Prince William, has guest-edited a special issue of Country Life, the British weekly devoted to country living. A guest editor chooses the contents of one issue, and this one runs to 300 pages.

The prince is also the cover star of the edition dated 11 November. Country Life says the Royal Guest Edit will be on sale for one week from 11 November, at newsagents, supermarkets and shops.

According to Hello! magazine, the prince spent the past six months working with Country Life on the commemorative issue. The magazine also reports that he has shared a behind-the-scenes photo from the project. People ran the same picture.

The subject matter has been set for some time. When the guest edit was announced in June, Country Life said it would focus on the prince's advocacy for better access to mental-health services. He joins a long line of royal guest editors of the magazine.

The issue has also drawn attention for a more personal detail. Hello! reports that the prince's preferred drink is a pint of cider with ice. He said he grew up on cider in the West Country, the south-west of England. Country Life and the Telegraph both note his fondness for an occasional visit to the pub.

For readers, the practical details are simple. The edition goes on sale from 11 November for one week. Anyone who wants the full 300 pages will need to buy it in that window.
