Casualties were reported after a shooting near the main market square of Krakow, Poland, on November 7, 2026, and police said a suspected gunman had been arrested. Al Jazeera reported the incident.

Krakow is Poland's second-largest city, in the south of the country, about 250 kilometres (155 miles) south of the capital, Warsaw. The city's municipal government said on X that shots had been fired in a square in Krakow and that casualties were reported.

Police said several people were wounded. Citing the fire brigade, the Polish broadcaster TVN24 reported that two people were killed and at least 10 others injured.

A spokesperson for local firefighters told the Polish outlet Polsat News that the shooter fired from a passing car. Police have not been quoted describing a motive.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk called the incident a "tragic shooting." He said he was being kept informed about the situation in Krakow by Poland's interior minister, and that police were investigating the background and all circumstances of the attack.
