Perfect Road: Danish Cousins Follow a Nomadic Cyclist Over Europe's High Passes

Danish cousins Adam Bonke and Christian Bonke have made a documentary about a cyclist who never stays put for long. The film, called Perfect Road, follows nomadic cyclist Maximilian Schnell on a journey across some of Europe's highest mountain passes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film has had its world premiere in Zurich, the first public screening of a new film. It is now showing at the 30th anniversary edition of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, known by its Estonian acronym PÖFF, in Estonia. The Hollywood Reporter also reported that the film is a 2026 production from Denmark.
The shoot was a long one. Adam Bonke told The Hollywood Reporter that the filmmakers lived in a campervan for three months while they filmed. Living on the road for that long is the same kind of life the film's cyclist leads, and the two projects are close in spirit.
The film was produced by Elk Film and Dogwoof. Andreas Dalsgaard, Anna Godas, Oli Harbottle and Miriam Nørgaard are listed as producers. Jonatan Mose handled the cinematography, the job of filming the picture, and Martin Anthon edited it, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Perfect Road also appears in the Estonian Olympic Committee sports film programme at the Tallinn festival, according to Eye for Film. That places a documentary about endurance riding alongside other sports films in one of the festival's themed strands.
Festivals like Tallinn do more than show films. They also work as a marketplace, where sales agents and buyers decide which films will later reach cinemas and streaming services. No deal for Perfect Road has been reported, so its path to audiences beyond the festival circuit is still open.
