England Run in Seven Tries to Beat Australia 45-22

England scored seven tries in a 45-22 win over Australia at Allianz Stadium, pulling clear after a much closer first half.
The teams were level in the early stages of the contest and England led 19-10 at half-time. The second half was England's. They scored 26 points to Australia's 12, and their tries kept coming until the final whistle.
A try is worth five points. It is scored by grounding the ball over the opponent's try line, and the team then gets a kick at goal, called a conversion, for two more. England's seven tries came from George, Chessum, Heyes, Van Poortvliet, Pollock (two) and Spencer. Fin Smith kicked five conversions, which accounts for England's 45 points.
Henry Pollock came off the bench to replace winger Immanuel Feyi-Waboso, and he finished the match with two tries. Substitutes can change the shape of a game, and his second-half impact was a clear part of England's scoring.
Australia replied with three tries, scored by Jorgensen, Daugunu and Williams. They never got close enough to threaten a comeback once England had pulled away in the second half.
England's head coach is Steve Borthwick, who will take the scoreline as a strong result for his side. The Wallabies, Australia's team, are coached by Les Kiss.
The referee was Pierre Brousset of France, who controlled the match from start to finish.
For newcomers, the headline is simple. England scored more tries than Australia managed in total, and they did it in the second half when it counted most. Seven tries in one match is a big haul by any standard, and it will be the first thing both sets of fans talk about.
