AMD's Ryzen 7 7700X3D is now available for $329, bringing the company's 3D V-Cache technology to a lower price point within its AM5 processor lineup. The eight-core chip is sold exclusively through Newegg in the US and Canada during the Q3 period, according to Engadget.

The processor carries 96MB of stacked L3 cache, the same amount as the higher-tier Ryzen 7 7800X3D, as reported by TechTimes. 3D V-Cache is AMD's technique of physically stacking an additional layer of L3 memory (cache) on top of the processor die, which gives the CPU a much larger pool of fast, on-chip memory to draw from. This matters especially for gaming, where rapid access to game data can improve frame rates. AMD has stated that the 7700X3D delivers gaming performance similar to the 7800X3D, positioning it as a near-equivalent gaming part at a lower cost. The processor boosts up to 4.5 GHz and has a 120W TDP (thermal design power, meaning the cooler needs to dissipate around 120 watts of heat).

AMD first announced the Ryzen 7 7700X3D at Computex 2026 on May 31, alongside a commitment to support the AM4 and AM5 platforms for ten years, per AMD's own Computex blog post. At that time, the company listed the suggested etail price at $329 and indicated a July 16 availability date. The product has now hit retail on that promised schedule.

The 7700X3D slots below the 7800X3D, which launched at a higher price, and the gap between the two is narrower than the naming might suggest. Both parts share the same eight-core layout and the same 96MB of stacked L3 cache. The differentiator is clock speed: the 7700X3D's 4.5 GHz boost is lower than the 7800X3D's. For gaming workloads, where the 3D V-Cache's large L3 pool does the heavy lifting and most titles do not fully use all eight cores, the clock deficit matters less than it would in applications that depend on raw throughput.

The Newegg exclusivity is worth noting for anyone planning a build. AMD has used retailer-exclusive launches before for its X3D parts, and the Q3 window means the exclusivity is time-limited rather than permanent. Builders outside the US and Canada will need to wait for broader availability, and even within those markets, exclusivity to a single retailer can create supply bottlenecks during the initial rush.

The $329 price places the 7700X3D in a competitive position against Intel's offerings in the same band. For buyers whose primary use case is gaming, the combination of 96MB of L3 cache and eight cores at this price is a straightforward value proposition. The 120W TDP is modest by current desktop standards, which keeps cooling requirements reasonable for a high-cache part.

Looking at the broader strategy, the 7700X3D fills out a product stack that now offers 3D V-Cache at multiple tiers within the AM5 socket. The 7800X3D remains the higher-clocked option; the 7700X3D trades frequency for price. AMD's Computex commitment to a ten-year support window for AM5 means buyers can reasonably expect future CPU upgrades on the same platform, which strengthens the value case for anyone entering the ecosystem now with a mid-tier part.

For system builders evaluating the 7700X3D against its sibling, the decision comes down to whether the clock speed difference justifies the price gap. AMD's own positioning — that gaming performance is similar — suggests that for most game-driven builds, it will not. The 7700X3D brings the core benefit of 3D V-Cache to $329. For anyone building a gaming PC on AM5 who does not need peak clock speeds, that is the relevant calculation.
