Aston Villa have signed winger Alejandro Garnacho on a season-long loan from Chelsea, with a conditional obligation to make the deal permanent for approximately £40m at the end of the 2026-27 season.

The move, confirmed on 23 July 2026, brings a player who only joined Chelsea from Manchester United last August — also for £40m — to Villa Park for a fresh start under Unai Emery. The Athletic first reported the agreement as a loan with a conditional obligation to buy on 22 July.

Garnacho's departure from Stamford Bridge had been weeks in the making. The 22-year-old was told he was not guaranteed regular playing time under Chelsea's new manager Xabi Alonso, who took over this summer.
