FAA Proposes Seat Inspections for Hundreds of Boeing 737 MAX Jets After Installation Errors

The Federal Aviation Administration has proposed an Airworthiness Directive — a mandatory safety order — requiring airlines to inspect passenger seat assemblies on 453 US-registered Boeing 737 MAX aircraft after discovering that seats were incorrectly installed in the seat tracks (Al Jazeera; Runway Girl Network; Aerotime).

Because the FAA's authority stops at US borders, foreign operators of the 737 MAX fall outside the directive's direct reach.
