Billy Zane Leads Cast of Philippe Caland's Neo-Noir Thriller 'Milliseconds'
Billy Zane, John Billingsley, Scottie Thompson, and Bonnie Root have signed on to star in Milliseconds, a neo-noir thriller written and directed by Philippe Caland, Deadline reported on 29 July 2026.
The film centres on a reclusive former painter pulled into an investigation tied to a suicide hotline, a premise that unravels long-buried connections and hidden truths from the past. Caland produces under his Junto House Films banner, with co-producers Bonnie Root and Cynthia Bravo alongside him. Zane also takes an executive producer credit.
Milliseconds marks Caland's sixth feature as director, following Hollywood Buddha, Ripple Effect, The Guru and the Gypsy, and Repentance. His career originally took off as writer and producer on Jennifer Lynch's Boxing Helena, and he has since produced Dead Girl, Infinity, and Loved.
Zane brings the highest profile to the ensemble. With over 100 film credits to his name, he recently portrayed Marlon Brando in Waltzing with Brando. He is represented by Paradigm Talent Agency.
Billingsley, a familiar face from years of television work, next appears in the Paramount+ limited series Unspeakable: The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey. He is represented by Trademark Talent and Artium Talent.
Thompson is known for recurring roles on NCIS, 12 Monkeys, The Blacklist, and MacGyver, with representation through TalentWorks and Yazzy Entertainment. Root, who previously co-produced Death in Ojai with Caland, is represented by Daniel Hoff Agency and Zero Gravity Management.
Rounding out the cast are Kevin Ryan, Don Wallace, Jason Lee Daniel, and Elijah Lynn Langston, the latter making his feature film debut. Cinematographer Gonzalo Digenio is attached to the project.
Production is set for Los Angeles, with the film making use of cityscape views and local architectural landmarks. One location sits in the fire-impacted Alta Dena area, a detail that gives the production a specific sense of place within the broader LA sprawl.
For Caland, Milliseconds continues a filmmaking path that has moved between producing and directing across three decades. For Zane, it adds another leading role to a career that has never slowed — and now includes a producing seat at the table.
