A new trading card game set in the Naruto universe will launch in Summer 2027, with its first rules and card details revealed at Gen Con 2026 on 29 July (GameSpot).

The game pulls characters from across three series: the original Naruto, its sequel Naruto: Shippuden, and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Cards revealed so far include fan-familiar names like Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, Jiraiya, and Itachi Uchiha.

Each player builds a 51-card deck organised around a single Leader card. That Leader does more than sit at the top of the pile — its colour determines the player's card palette and overall strategy. The win condition is straightforward: reduce the opposing Leader's life points to zero.

Four types of support card fill out the deck. Character Cards are the fighters, executing attacks and unleashing unique jutsu — the signature ninja techniques from the anime. Chakra Cards supply the resource needed to power those techniques, covering ninjutsu (ninja arts), genjutsu (illusions), and taijutsu (hand-to-hand combat). Summon Cards bring powerful characters onto the battlefield. EX Character Cards are the wild cards: they can only be played once certain conditions have been met, but they can swing a losing position.

The artwork spans several sources. Original illustrations come from a range of artists. Some cards use artwork lifted directly from the anime. And a selection carries illustrations by Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto himself.

For fans of the franchise, the card pool spanning all three anime series means decks can mix generations of characters — a team built around Itachi could sit alongside Boruto-era fighters, depending on what the full set eventually contains. The Leader-driven structure also gives each match a clear focal point, with the colour system nudging players toward distinct playstyles rather than a single optimal deck.

The Summer 2027 launch gives the publisher roughly a year of runway from this Gen Con reveal to retail. Further card reveals, set lists, and organised-play details are likely to follow in the months ahead.
