Eccles, the defending champion at women's 70kg, stopped Zimbabwe's Samukelisiwe Sinothile Ncube in the second round of her quarter-final. Harris-Allan took a different route to his medal guarantee. He won unanimously on points against Scottish home favourite Nick Devlin, silencing the Glasgow crowd. The semi-finals were scheduled for Friday, 30 July, with finals set for the following day. For Eccles, a win on Friday would put her back into a Commonwealth final for the third consecutive Games. For Holley-Sotomi, the fastest finisher of the day, a medal is already banked — and the knockout that earned it will be hard to forget.
