A London boxer wins the heavyweight title in Las Vegas, loses everything the same night, and comes out of prison nearly eight years later looking for the man who took it from him. That is the premise of Fightland, a drama that premiered on Starz on July 31 with its first episode, to be followed by weekly instalments.

Howard Charles leads the cast as Duke Kilroy, the boxer at the centre of the story. On the night of his title fight, Duke's hand is smashed by attackers wielding a hammer. Someone close to him is killed. He commits an act of violence that lands him behind bars for nearly eight years. When he returns to London, he is hunting revenge — but the landscape has shifted.

His former manager Kingsley Marshall, played by Nicholas Pinnock, has vanished. Kingsley used his boxing business as a front for a drug empire in London, and that empire is now run by his children: Zeek, played by Charles Babalola, and Cebella, played by Anita-Joy Uwajeh. Duke's girlfriend Joy, played by Deborah Ayorinde, is married to Kingsley — a tangled relationship at the heart of the drama.

The series was created by two writing teams: Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan and Marlon Smith, alongside Damione Macedon and Raphael Jackson Jr. Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson serves as executive producer through his G-Unit production company, a detail Starz president and CEO Jeffrey Hirsch highlighted on a November earnings call (The Hollywood Reporter).

Fightland's path to the screen stretches back to December 2022, when the project was first announced as being in development at Starz (Deadline). It carries particular weight for the network: the series was Starz's first commission since the company split from Lionsgate (The Hollywood Reporter). Starz had also been in talks to bring on a co-commissioning partner to share costs (The Hollywood Reporter), and in February 2026 Sky signed on as that partner, securing the show for UK audiences (Deadline).

First-look photos dropped in May 2026, along with the premiere date (Deadline). Starz released two teasers ahead of launch — one titled "Welcome to Fightland" and another called "Duke Kilroy's Revenge" — both available on the platform's series page (Starz).

The cast also includes Tahirah Sharif, Tyler Conte, and Richard Pepple (The Hollywood Reporter). The series streams exclusively on Starz.

For viewers, Fightland offers a familiar genre wrapped in a specific world: British boxing, London crime, and a lead character whose body and life are broken before the story proper even begins. The revenge plot is the engine, but the family dynamics — a girlfriend married to the enemy manager, a drug empire passed to a new generation — give the show its tangled centre.
